Nice Doesn't Mean Trustworthy

You finally found a babysitter you can trust. When you interviewed them they appeared to be genuinely kind, caring and could handle the responsibility of caring for your precious children. But that can all be faked. People lie every day and that includes the sweet babysitter.

Child Abuse Is A Reality

Did you know that 1 in 4 girls and 1 in 6 boys will be sexually abused before they are 18? Over 90% of sexual offenders are someone the child knows and trusts. That someone could be your babysitter. Only 1 in 10 will ever tell anyone... Is your kid shy around the babysitter? Are they aloof? You can’t let this happen to your precious kids. They deserve to be protected.

Accidents Can Happen Quickly

In most cases, an accident is simply a regrettable misfortune that would have happened even if the parents were present. However, some childcare professionals do not fulfill the obligations of their employment and instead choose to willfully neglect their duties. Accidents can happen when a nanny or babysitter engages in behavior like the following:

- Failing to administer medications or special diets properly
- Inviting over guests without the express permission of the parents - Failing to provide ongoing supervision for the children
- Physically or sexually abusing the child

In situations like these, you need to have evidence to prove that your babysitter or nanny has misbehaved so that you can confront her, fire her and possibly pursue legal action.

Distracted Babysitters

It’s not just distracted drivers who are dangerous. Teenage girls love to talk - and to chat. They seem to always be on their smartphones. And more so when no one else is around. That’s fine when they are on Their time, but when they are working for it’s another thing altogether. If you’re away and your babysitter’s distracted by her phone, who’s watching your child? It only take a minute (or less!) for a young child to get injured or in a dangerous situation. Only by proactively monitoring your caregiver can you make sure nothing bad happens.

Studies tell us that 90 percent of the human brain grows by the age of three. For the brain to grow, children need repetitive, positive interactions with their caregivers. They need someone focused on them, responding to their needs, listening to their babbles, and talking and babbling back. Recent research shows that these positive interactions not only create critical emotional attachment bonds, but they actually promote brain growth and the creation of neural pathways as well.

As a parent you need to view babysitter smartphones use as a direct danger to your child’s brain growth. If a caregiver would think it cruel to withhold food all day, they must realize that by focusing on their smartphones, they are starving your child’s brain from the crucial interactions it needs to grow and thrive. You need to ensure your caregiver isn’t spending more time staring downward than looking up and interacting with your child.
